Through the alley, back from hell, when you hear that steeple bell

F.A.Q.

Do you serve food and drinks?
We serve beer, wine, soda, juice, and hot coffee. We do not serve food.

Where can I get food?
Consider a pre-show bite at Lizzy's (635 Cambridge St.) or East Side Bar and Grille (561 Cambridge St.).

How long is the show?
The show is about two hours, which includes one 10-minute intermission.

Can I pick my seats in advance?
No. We do not have pre-assigned seating. The Wrathskellar is intimate and the acts are distributed around the space. There are no bad seats.

What if I have a big group of people? Can we all sit together?
Patrons are seated at tables of four. You're welcome to sit at adjacent tables, but please don't re-arrange our furniture.

Do you have group rates?
No.

It's my friends birthday/engagement/divorce/last night before they go to prison/etc. Will you do something special for them during the show?
Probably not. But it never hurts to ask.

Can I bring my child to this show?
That's up to you. The Wrathskellar features adult themes like violence, drug-use, and murder. It also features women in various stages of undress as well as some pretty nightmare inducing imagery. You know your child better than we do.

Are there children's prices?
No.

The Wrathskellar is just off a fog-bound lane in Queen Victoria's London or down a flight of stairs that Mack the Knife might have tread. In the dim limelight, a chanteuse sings forlornly of a lost love, while a diva plots revenge for some imagined slight.  Hearts, promises, and crockery are broken with abandon and secrets are hidden just below the surface.

The Wrathskeller is an evening of revenge, jealousy, greed, betrayal, lust, and murder... all to your favorite tunes.

The Boston Babydolls' dark burlesque returns in its most ambitious incarnation. In 2009, The Wrathskellar was first staged at The Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown. Last year, we transformed The Cambridge YMCA's theatre into our underworld tavern with the addition of cabaret seating, wait staff, and more. This year, for the first time, patrons can truly enter The Wrathskellar, as we build our tavern in a storefront in East Cambridge.

A departure from The Boston Babydolls usual mix of bubbly fun and retro glamour, The Wrathskellar is a moody whirlpool of sinister dirges, predatory laments, and torch songs in a minor key. Instead of big band and swing, the soundtrack for The Wrathskellar features atmospheric and evocative works from Utë Lemper, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen.

The show opens October 7 at The Wrathskellar (545 Cambridge St. (rear), Cambridge MA), with a special preview on Thursday, October 6.  Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets or by calling (800) 838-3006
