Auditions for our summer show, Madame Burlesque: An Evening of Tributes are being held on Sunday, May 8 at 3pm and Tuesday, May 10 at 7pm.  All auditions are held at B.A.B.E., 119 Braintree St., #208, Allston, MA 02134

Madame Burlesque will be performed at The Cambridge YMCA Theatre in Central Square from July 6 to July 17, and at Lucid Stage in Portland, ME on July 22 & 23. We are looking to schedule additional performances within 4 hours of Boston on Fridays and Saturdays throughout August. Rehearsals will be in Allston, MA on Sunday nights and one other weeknight (probably Wednesdays) starting the week of May 15. You must be available for consistent rehearsals. Missing one is all right; missing more than one is grounds for removal from the show.

Madame Burlesque is an evening of classic burlesque acts based on and inspired by well-known historic burlesque performers — Sally Rand, Gypsy Rose Lee, etc. Dancers will work with a director and choreographer to develop performances in the classic style. Dance experience is required; burlesque experience is helpful. We are particularly interested in performers of color (including Asian/Asian-descent, Indian, and Latina/Hispanic), but anyone is welcome to audition. We may also have a role for a female impersonator.

Performers who have an additional skill (singing, magic, hula hoop, aerials, etc.) are encouraged to audition, but all acts will have an element of striptease to them. Performers will be required to appear in panties and pasties.

Dancers should prepare a short (under two minutes) dance routine which demonstrates their strengths. Please bring your music on MP3 player or CD.

Dancers will be taught a short striptease choreography which they will perform for the casting directors.
