Ol' Scratch: Impressario, Master of Ceremonies
The "King of Boston Burlesque", Scratch's love of the theatre and head for business helped make today's burlesque scene in Boston what it is. After helping create The Boston Babydolls, he went on to found the annual Great Burlesque Exposition, a three-day festival and professional development conference for performers. As an impressario, he draws inspiration from The Minsky Brothers, Billy Rose, and Max Bialystock.
Miss Mina: Prima Diva
Miss Mina abandoned her Ivory Tower after the job market for glamourous archaeologists dried up, becoming co-founder and Prima Diva of the Boston Babydolls. Known for her "Ivy League mind in a Combat Zone body", she delights audience with her elegant striptease, award-winning costumes, and occasional flashes of unexpected humor. As the headmistress of the Boston Academy of Burlesque Education, she has taught countless women in New England to bump, grind, and tassel-twirl.
Betty Blaize: Lead Choreographer
Betty Blaize leapt from a cartoon strip to the burlesque stage on a dedicated search for Things That Are Shiny. She's a veteran performer and choreographer with the Boston Babydolls who believes that taking one's clothes off makes everything better. She is particularly known for her one-sided tassel twirling, comic expressions, and being the tallest member of the Boston Babydolls.
Devora Darling: Dancer
Devora Darling has been performing with the Boston Babydolls since her debut in French Kiss. She is trained in classical ballet, as seen in her show-stopping performance as The Lost Girl in The Wrathskellar, and has been dancing and performing most of her life. Devora lives in Boston, where she teaches ballet and arranges flowers.
Evie Sphinx: Dancer
Evie Sphinx's winning smile and wholesome good looks will have you thinking she's sweet and innocent, but inside her friendly demeanor lurks a fitness demon and a dance goddess. Having recently come to the stage with the Boston Babydolls, Evie jazzes up her bumps and grinds with killer kicks and jaw-dropping splits using her classical ballet roots. In addition to dancing, Evie is currently attending college here in Boston. When not dancing or in class, Evie can be found tearing up the streets of Boston on her bicycle. Watch out! This lady is danger whether she's on two wheels or high heels.
Brigitte Bisoux: Dancer
Brigitte Bisoux is the newest addition to the Boston Babydolls, but is no stranger to Burlesque. After four years whipping the guys and gals of the Tufts Burlesque Troupe into shape, she decided to share her goodies and graces with a larger audience. Known for her love of twirling while tap dancing, bacon, and all things sparkly and shiny, she is very excited to be part of the BEST Burlesque Troupe in Boston.
